Collection: Abdul Rashid Hamidi Kaihan
Kaihan Hamidi was born in Ghazni, in faraway Afghanistan.
In March 2022 he arrives in Beja after the unspeakable barbarity took hold in his country.
In Kabul he was one of the greatest names in art who called daily for hope, who always looked further in search of beauty and freedom.
Art teacher, founder of a renowned art gallery, he was known as the “God of watercolors”.
But there are those who do not understand the light of hope that art emits.
The new Taliban regime brought the country back into a dark alley, and Kaihan, with his family, and practically only with the clothes on his back and his art, came to Beja.
He embraced Beja, Beja has embraced him.
Now, more than a year later, the city's Castle, a monument that Kaihan contemplates in amazement every day, is given a luminous look in this exhibition.
With it, other places are also portrayed in watercolor, details of a city and a country between the past and the present.
Sometimes we need someone from far away to show us the beauty of familiar places.
Kaihan Hamidi kindly brings this gift to Beja, a city of freedom and hope.
