Collection: Márcia Rêgo
Visual artist, graphic designer, artisan and poet, Márcia Rêgo (Lisbon 1981). She graduated in IADE in 2021 and only in the last years she resumed her love for the visual arts by making this the most purist form of her expression.
She lives intensely and overflows this intensity into everything she does. Her art mostly in vibrant colours or predominantly in black and white, is clearly an appeal to the maximum exponent of emotions. Therefore, we can see the primary human senses, the vision she has of the society that surrounds her, freedom, nature and its magnitude, dreams, feelings, instincts, ambiguities, music, dance and the strong power of the written word represented in her art works.
She explores different paths in the way she expresses herself artistically, by believing that every human being is this way... Mutant, full of contrasts, of premises that evolve or change by being this the sum of all these different languages that represent us and differentiate us from each other.
She appeals for this journey through senses and emotions in surrendering to the stories that are represented in her art, that thus transports her entire essence.
“When a work leaves my hands, it stops being mine, it becomes to be someone else’s story and it’s simply all these constructions and imaginaries that turns out to make everything more enriching. Always build yourselves on feelings...on emotions, and never let the journey as well as the story not be yours. This is where the truthfulness of who we are and what we deliver to the world and to others settles.”
