Collection: Paulo Neves
Paulo Neves, born in northern Portugal in 1959, revealed his artistic maturity during the 1990s and is now recognized as an international sculptor with an undeniable national reputation. With works in various Portuguese collections, Paulo Neves is also represented in the United States, France, Spain, Brazil, the Netherlands, Belgium, Romania, Australia, Morocco, and Germany.
Although he attended the Porto School of Fine Arts, his learning is, in the modern European tradition, entirely self-taught. The morphological expression of his works appeals to expressionism and baroque, although his language seems entirely original, developed outside the movements and aesthetic trends of his time. Setting out at a young age to discover the world by his own hands, Paulo Neves met artists, visited museums, and explored other worlds—an experience that undoubtedly shaped the work he would later create.
