“Thumbelina in a Flower” invites the viewer into a world where nature expands beyond human scale and the boundaries between fairy tale and reality dissolve. At its centre, the diminutive Thumbelina rests within the immense petals of a blooming flower, transforming the blossom into both landscape and sanctuary.
Her flowing golden hair and vivid green-and-coral dress contrast delicately with the soft lavender, blush and cream tones of the surrounding petals. The composition evokes the visual language of classic fairy tales while giving the familiar character a renewed sense of presence and freedom.
The flower is not merely a setting; it becomes an entire universe. Its layered petals surround the figure like protective walls, suggesting intimacy, shelter and belonging.
