I was born on a farm surrounded by fields, where I lived until I was 16. This had a profound influence on me. After that, I spent a few years in Coimbra, where I began my contact with art, painting, and drawing at the Círculo de Artes Plásticas. At 23, I came to Lisbon, where I've lived for many years and where I studied painting at the Faculty of Fine Arts.
My creative process went through various stages, evolving into a style that became increasingly abstract while maintaining a foundation of subjectivism, improvisation, and a certain pastoral quality, where mist often appears. It also retains characteristics of Romanticism in its freedom of expression, appreciation of imagination, fascination with emotion and fantasy, and the exaltation of nature.
I don't choose themes. I let things flow and am surprised by what I find. Thus, I leave the interpretation of my painting entirely up to the viewer.
