Coleção: Marisa Patrício Duarte
Marisa Patrício Duarte is an artist working under pseudonym Mia.Dua.Art.
Architect, mother and art educator with training in Mindfulness for children and teenagers.
She was born in Lisbon in 1984 and now spends her days in Sintra, between the sea's deep blue and the mountains' revitalising green. She left behind her busy life as a businesswoman to devote herself to the arts and education.
She sketched her first drawings as a child, and in her early teens, there were countless portraits in graphite, charcoal, sanguine and sepia that she did on commission. She has moved between oil landscape paintings, Nusa charcoal drawings, children's watercolours and hundreds of graphic diaries with sketches that have accompanied her over the last 20 years.
She currently presents her work as mia.dua and her art follows an abstract register with mixed techniques and recourse to natural elements such as the sand on the Portuguese coast.
In the provocation and encounter of non-conforming and adverse elements, the fluidity of colours and the textures of forms, the contemporary artist believes there is a balance and respect between opposites, the basis of what she considers to be the secret to freedom.
Optimistic by nature, rebellious and daring due to a restless mind, she is passionate about dance, music and literature. She paints between books, reads between brushes and dances while educating.
