Description

This sculptural work by Tatiana Siopa explores the idea of the body as a threshold—a place where interior and exterior, vulnerability and force, presence and memory intersect. Formed from soft fabric tensioned into a standing frame, the piece reveals an opening at its center, rendered in textured layers of pink and red.

The structure evokes the qualities of skin, tissue, and permeability, yet it stands upright and firm, suggesting resilience rather than fragility. The opening becomes a symbolic passage: birth, emergence, transformation, becoming. Siopa invites the viewer to consider the body not only as a physical form, but as a site of experience, identity, protection, and origin.

Rather than depicting literal anatomy, the work abstracts the language of flesh into shape, texture, and color—transforming what is often private or politicized into a universal, sculptural gesture.
