Sunset

Sunset by Maria Regina Mongiardim is a captivating abstract painting that explores the quiet beauty of transition, where light, colour, and form converge to evoke the final moments of the day.

Through a series of concentric, arch-like shapes, the artist creates a visual journey towards a distant horizon. Layers of muted blues, soft greys, and delicate golden tones unfold against a deep charcoal background, while a vibrant expanse of warm orange dominates the foreground, capturing the unmistakable warmth of a setting sun.

The rhythmic repetition of curved forms introduces a sense of depth and perspective, drawing the viewer into an almost architectural landscape. The contrast between the cool, atmospheric upper section and the luminous warmth below creates a compelling balance between tranquillity and energy.

With its expressive brushwork, textured surfaces, and carefully considered colour palette, Sunset moves beyond a literal representation of nature. Instead, it offers a personal interpretation of the fleeting moment when day gives way to night.

Both contemplative and visually striking, this contemporary abstract artwork invites viewers to pause, reflect, and discover their own meaning within its layers of colour and form.

A distinctive statement piece, Sunset brings warmth, depth, and a sophisticated artistic presence to contemporary interiors.
